Amateur radio - Consistent Service that Never Failed in Emergency Cases - Record high Number of Radio Amateurs in the US Licence Increase in 2011/2012!

Is very important to know that despite of modern communications: cell phone, internet service and others, the amateur radio, whose origins traced to the late 19th century, is one service of communication much more efficient in cases of public disasters, because, normally, it never fail.
And, is good know that record high number of ham radio licences in the USA is being attribut by experts to the increase in severe weather events (tornadoes, violent storms, earthquakes, shipwrecks and others), because in these cases everyone knows that modern communications will fail, but amateur radio is certain that will operate!

ARRL spokesman, Allen Pitts W1AGP attributed the rise in ham radio licences to young people getting involved to help in emergency communications, as well as to people nearing retirement and taking it up as a hobby.
